This Privacy Policy explains how FrameDrop ("we", "us", or "the app") handles information when you use the FrameDrop mobile app and desktop client. By using FrameDrop, you agree to the practices described below.
1. Local-First by Design
FrameDrop streams your camera feed directly from your phone to your PC over a local USB connection. Your video feed is not uploaded to our servers, recorded by us, or shared with third parties. The video never leaves your own devices.
2. Information We Collect
- Camera & microphone access: Used solely to capture and stream your feed to your PC. This data is processed on-device and transmitted only over your local USB connection.
- Device & connection information: Basic technical details (such as device model and USB connection status) used locally to establish and maintain the link between your phone and PC.
- Feedback you submit: If you voluntarily send feedback through our website, we receive the information you choose to provide so we can respond and improve the product.
- Advertising data: The mobile app displays ads through Google AdMob. To serve and measure ads, Google and its partners may collect information such as your device's advertising identifier, IP address, device type, and general usage and interaction data. See the Advertising section below for details.
3. Permissions
To function, FrameDrop requests camera, microphone, and USB/tethering related permissions on your device. These permissions are used only to deliver the app's core functionality and can be revoked at any time through your device settings.
4. How We Use Information
We use the limited information described above to operate the camera streaming feature, maintain a stable connection between your devices, respond to feedback, diagnose and fix issues, and display and measure ads in the mobile app. We do not sell your personal information.
5. Advertising
The FrameDrop mobile app is free and supported by ads served through Google AdMob. To provide and measure these ads, Google acts as a third-party vendor and may use device identifiers (such as your advertising ID), IP address, and app-usage data to serve ads, including personalized ads based on your interests.
Your camera and microphone feed is never shared with advertisers or used for ad targeting. You can control ad personalization and reset or delete your advertising ID at any time in your device settings (Settings → Google → Ads on Android). To learn how Google uses this data, see Google's Privacy & Terms.
6. Data Sharing
We do not sell your personal information, and we never share your video or audio feed with third parties. We share the limited advertising data described above with Google AdMob solely to display and measure ads in the app. We may also disclose information where required by law or to protect our legal rights.
7. Data Retention
Your video and audio streams are transient and are not stored by us. Any feedback you submit is retained only for as long as needed to address it and improve the product. Advertising data is retained by Google in accordance with its own privacy policy.
8. Children's Privacy
FrameDrop is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by updating the "Last updated" date at the top of this page.
